Last blog post I shared with you about my new couch...yeah I'm just gonna call it that, I let you in on the truth of that matter that it is infact a futon, but whatever...it's a couch to me!!
So you wanna know when it sucks to not have a husband???
Saturday morning little old me was ramped up to go get this couch. 8:30 am, I was at this ladies house, Starbucks in one hand, cash in the other, ready to buy this thing! It's super light, so we easily carried it out to the truck together and I was on my way.....
So.....here was my new amazing white couch in the back of this truck...I had made arrangements for it to be brought to my house on Monday....but today was Saturday....and you know what I really wanted? I wanted to see how this baby was going to look in my house....like right that second. Monday was a millennium away and so at that time it was time to take matters into my own hands.
{Note to self....stop doing this!!!!}
My house is practically an hour away from where I currently was, and driving the truck that my couch was in all the way out to my house was just not completely practical. Soooo, the next best thing was to get this thing into my car! I've got a hatchback and using my eyeballs as a tape measure I figured that this thing would fit in my car practically perfect. It would be tight but it could happen. So I get my butt up in the back of the truck and try to manuver this thing out of the truck...Well the thing is super simple to move with two people, but one chick who could stand to pack some more meat on her bones has a bit of a problem trying to move this thing on her own.
I ended up with a crunched big toe and finger...but I would not be denied!!
I just needed to figure out how this was going to work....
I got my handy dandy screwdriver and I was taking legs off this thing so it would fit in the car better and finally I got this thing out of the truck and on to the ground...
Now remember I told you what color this couch was...yeah, it's white...
Ground + white.... not a great combo...
Wellll, now that I got this thing on the ground it was one step close to being in my car...but again, its an odd shape to try to pick up on your own without causing damage to it, but I tried....and I failed. This new futon that was never used prior now had a little tear on it because I just couldn't be patient.
Dammit I thought!!!
Ok...so once I saw that, I admitted my defeat...this wasn't something one determined chick could do on her own. Soo, what the frick was I gonna do? Welllll, all of a sudden the firehouse across the street just started gleaming! Tah-da!!! Now if you know me or talk to me, you'd know that since leaving my husband {why I left} Its become this joke about my new man being this sexy, and I mean sexy fireman.I don't know why, I'ts just become this silly joke that me and my girlfriends talk about. So there have been numerous jokes about how I was going to meet one.
Well, well, here it was...I was a single chick with a legit reason to go to the firehouse...
IT WAS PERFECT!!!
Walking over I giggled to myself at the reality of what was once a joke actually happening!
How the heck did I actually find myself in an honest to goodness need of a firemen's help?!! It was just to silly to think about the predicament I'd gotten myself into, and how I was going to get out of it!
Sooo, I knocked on the office door and guess what...no firemen!
I couldn't fine one frickin' fireman to save my life, or my futon!
Crap, ok so I guess this wasn't going to be the day I'd meet my fireman, but I looked across the street and there my futon was on the ground....I still needed help....Sooo, what's the next best thing to a fireman? How 'bout the owner of your favorite burrito joint. I made my way over there, ordered a veggie burrito and asked my amigo for some assistance. With one quick swoop, the futon was back in the truck and I was munchin' on my burrito...
All was once well again in my world!
All was once well again in my world!
So can I promise that I won't attempt things that I know I shouldn't? Honestly, probably not...it's just what I do...and finding myself in situations like this, although I'm sure I looked absolutely ridiculous trying to do this on my own...it just makes for a good laugh!
